Professionals supplied their own details and we approved them. Not a recommendation.Good to know: about this list and choosing safely

Each professional supplied their own details, and we reviewed and approved them before publishing. This is not a recommendation or a guarantee of quality of care. Shikhte Chai does not take appointments: contact the professional directly. A “checked” badge on a card shows what we have verified; without one, we have not verified it yet.

How to choose a professional safely

Psychiatrists
They must be medical doctors registered with the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BM&DC) and hold a postgraduate psychiatry qualification (MD, FCPS or MCPS). Only they can prescribe medicine. Check the registration number against the BM&DC register.
Psychologists, counsellors and psychotherapists
In Bangladesh there is no statutory register or licence for these professions, and the titles are not legally protected. So ask: what degree, from which university, how many supervised practice hours, and whether they belong to a professional association.
Warning signs
Be careful if a psychologist or counsellor says they are “government licensed”, gives vague answers about their training, or promises a “guaranteed cure”.

This reflects the law and the sources we found, and laws can change. It is not legal advice.
